Independant Ambulance Service Training Programme
Career training & planning for the Independent Ambulance Sector

Working within the pre-hospital environment is both challenging and rewarding with no two days being the same. You may find yourself giving medical assistance at an event one day, transporting a casualty/patient between hospitals the next or even transferring an organ under blue lights on your next shift. There are many private ambulance companies operating within the United Kingdom and training requirements vary greatly between each company.

As a result CS Medical Services UK has developed a training programme that will set you off on a full and satisfying career. The programme is modular and is without doubt the most comprehensive training package available in the private sector. All of the qualifications are recognised and certificated by an external awarding body so as to insure a high standard is met at all times.

Because the course is modular you may learn at your own pace and take as long or as little time as you like over your development. Prior learning can be offset against other units of the programme and you will receive a minimum of 40 hours practical work experience alongside an operational crew.

Some of the topics & modules covered in the IASTP include;

  • Principles of Pre-Hospital Care
  • Life Support Skills
  • Environment Specific Training
  • Patient Care
  • Health & Safety
  • NMCA’s in Medical Conditions
  • Ambulance Equipment & Technology
  • First Aid & Emergency Medical Care Skills
  • Defibrillation
  • Medical Gases
  • Advanced Certificates
  • Blue Light Driver Training
  • CV Creation

As well as many other topics you will also have access to a mentor who will give you advice and assistance throughout your career.

Currently there are no formal standards to work in the independent ambulance sector and this programme is aimed at those who wish to be able to offer a higher level of service, experience and qualification to employers. All students who complete the programme will have the opportunity to continue their personal development with CS Medical Services UK and work towards gaining instructor status, team leader or other qualifications.

Although no qualifications are required to sit this programme you will need to pass an initial interview and have good people & communication skills. You will automatically be placed on our staff bank and will need a CRB check.
